Once you have decided to start boxing the first thing you need to focus on is getting in shape for the gym.You don’t want to go into the gym as you are because you’ll never keep up. The most important part of your work out will be running aka  ”street work”. We all hate to do it but it’s a must if you want to have the endurance to last a round in the ring. After a few weeks of training on your own you should be ready to find a gym near you.

Once you have found that gym your training can begin. Some of the things you will need are hand wraps, boxing shoes, gloves, and a mouth guard. The first thing you will work on is your stance. Your stance is the foundation on which your punches and defense is built. The first punch you’ll need to master is the jab. This is your best defencive punch it keeps your opponent away and helps you square your further punches. All other punches including the left and right cross and hook and the uppercut will come in time.

Most of the things that you will need to know to be able to climb into the ring. I can’t just tell you they are thing that only experience will teach you. As long as you trust your coach and yourself you will have success in this sport. Boxing is not for everyone it takes huge amounts of dedication and self discipline. When you finally climb in that ring remember to keep a clear head and do what you have been trained to do. Most importantly learn your lessons from your defeats, because you can learn more from one loss than a hundred wins.
